SEMPORNA: A dive instructor was found dead after he went solo diving at Pulau Sipadan near here, early this week.
The diver, identified as Chen Hui, 36, from China had gone to the world renowned dive site with three oxygen tanks, on Monday.
He was last seen diving alone at about 10.30am before other divers discovered his body near the Sabah Parks jetty at the island.
District police chief Superintendent Peter Umbuas said there was no wound on the body.
"We found leftover food spilled from his mouth and we believe the diver drowned," he said when contacted, adding police ruled out foul play.
Mazlan said Chen worked as a dive instructor here for three years and was supposed to return to China yesterday.
The body has been taken to the district hospital for a post- mortem.
